With the base coming apart around them, Ted, Smith, and Brian are forced to decide how far they’re willing to go to survive the night, and what kind of men they’re going to be once they leave the wire behind.

Reeling from the fight in the storm drain, Sir Nicholas discovers just how far his newfound powers can go to knit flesh and bone back together—while Jesse reveals the terrible price the future has already promised him for wielding his icy bow. The band doesn’t have long to dwell on it, though; the briefcase they pulled from the chupacabra ambush turns out to be wrapped in layers of divine wards, the kind of protection that usually belongs on vaults, not luggage.
A visit to a familiar ranch and some very wary advice point them toward a dangerous truth: someone out there is gathering power meant to challenge the gods themselves, and whatever’s in that case was never meant to leave Phoenix. When even the waters of the Lady of the Lake refuse to welcome it, Gary, Jesse, and Nicholas are forced to chase answers in the strangest of places—starting with a therapist who specializes in couples where only one partner happens to be divine.

The trail from a bloody party and a single fallen vial leads Sir Nicholas, Jesse, and Gary deeper into the hidden ecosystem of Phoenix’s supernatural underbelly. Following a dead man’s address, a nervous neighbor, and some very familiar gold coins, the band starts to understand that whatever is pushing this new drug “D” is organized, careful, and not afraid to use mortals as kindling.
A cryptic note points them toward the city’s storm drains—those vast concrete rivers meant for monsoon floods—and a stakeout quickly turns into something far more dangerous. As a luxury car comes and goes and a lonely briefcase is left behind, the Scions discover that the monsters they thought they’d already put down are evolving.
Caught between their battered bodies, their followers’ safety, and a predator that shouldn’t exist twice, Gary, Jesse, and Sir Nicholas are forced to decide how far they’re willing to push their newfound power when the hunt stares back out of the dark.

The first weeks after their divine awakenings have not been quiet ones for Gary, Jesse, and Sir Nicholas. Each of them is still learning what it means to be more than mortal in a city already simmering with heat, pressure, and half-hidden supernatural tensions.
When a celebration at Sir Nicholas’s hilltop “party castle” takes an unexpected and violent turn, the band is pulled back together and forced to look beneath the surface of the Valley of the Setting Sun. A strange incident, a troubling discovery, and the hint of something dangerous moving through Phoenix’s nightlife push them toward their first real test as newly risen Scions.
As they follow the earliest threads of a mystery that touches both mortals and the divine, Gary, Jesse, and Nicholas must decide what kind of heroes they’re willing to be—and how far they’re ready to go to protect a city that doesn’t even know it needs saving.

With the server cracked and the truth of Decator unearthed, the real pressure begins on the long trip back to Extropia. Locked in a courier ship with a pre-Fall intelligence, a hungry data archaeologist, and Firewall orders that arrive on a half-hour delay, Hex, Nyal, and Sava are forced to decide what Captain really is to them—person, weapon, or loose end.
As negotiations move into simulspace and old Earth memories surface, the sentinels stumble onto a buried truth that reaches all the way into the modern hypercorp boardrooms. The contract they agree to, and the secrets they choose to share—or bury—will shape more than just their paydays. In the end, The Black Spot isn’t about what they found in the rock, but about the lines they cross to keep transhumanity safe… or convinced that it still is.

As the hidden server on Decator finally yields its secrets, the sentinels realize Marzuk has uncovered far more than outdated corporate strategy. Buried alongside Monolith’s pre-Fall plans is a digital presence tied directly to the company’s lost legacy—an ego that remembers a world before everything burned.
Back aboard the courier ship, the team faces a new kind of problem: what do you do with someone who woke up after the apocalypse inside a box? With Marzuk already seeing opportunity and leverage, Hex, Nyal, and Sava must decide how much truth to share, how much access to allow, and how far they’re willing to bend their Firewall obligations for a being that might be victim, asset, or something far more dangerous.
As the ship begins the long journey back toward Extropia, the stakes shift from “What did we find?” to “Who gets to own it?”—and whether any choice they make can avoid lighting the fuse on a second catastrophe.

With Marzuk now confident in their abilities, the sentinels begin preparations for the journey into the main belt. Securing a fast courier ship, assembling the right gear, and navigating Extropia’s reputation-driven economy quickly become their first tests of teamwork. Contracts are negotiated, favors called in, and equipment quietly acquired—all while maintaining the delicate balance between their Firewall covers and their client’s growing trust.
As the journey begins, days blur together in microgravity. Long stretches of downtime give way to uneasy conversations, glimpses into each other’s pasts, and the subtle tension that always lingers when a team of strangers is bound by secrets. When they finally reach the unmarked asteroid and locate the hidden site, the team uncovers a buried structure that raises more questions than answers.
Now, at the edge of known space with the object exposed, the next step becomes clear: access whatever is sealed inside. But out here, far from help and surrounded by silence, the line between opportunity and danger grows increasingly thin.
